-Celebrar el 95 Aniversario del Natalicio de nuestro héroe Nacional Rigoberto López Pérez, nos llena de alegría, de satisfacción, al compartir entre nosotros el recuerdo y la memoria histórica de Rigoberto, quien, amando intensamente su vida, se desprendió voluntariamente de ella, para contribuir heroicamente con el inicio del fin de la dictadura y el proceso de sensibilización política, social, revolucionaria, que vanguardizo posteriormente el Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional. El Comandante Daniel y la Compañera Rosario también comparten con nosotros esta celebración y les envían a Ustedes sus fraternos saludos.
-El 21 de septiembre de 1956, Rigoberto López Pérez llevó a cabo un acto que cambió, transformó el curso de lucha de la historia nicaragüense: el ajusticiamiento de Anastasio Somoza García. Este acto no solo buscaba eliminar a un dictador, instrumento de la intervención norteamericana, sino también animar a la población nicaragüense hacia la acción revolucionaria y dar continuidad al legado del General de Hombres y Mujeres Libres, Augusto C. Sandino. Este es uno de los aportes de Rigoberto a nuestra Revolución Popular Sandinista.
-El Comandante, Carlos Fonseca, afirma que: Rigoberto López Pérez, es el héroe y poeta nicaragüense de veintisiete años, que dio su vida para ajusticiar en 1956, al sicario que, a sueldo de la Embajada norteamericana, el imperialismo, crucificó a Augusto C. Sandino.
-El Comandante Daniel Ortega nos ha dicho que Rigoberto es un continuador de la lucha de Sandino. Es Sandino, a través de Rigoberto, haciendo justicia. Vemos que es su aporte a la aplicación de la justicia por el crimen en contra de Sandino. Existe un hilo conductor entre Sandino y Rigoberto López Pérez. Rigoberto es mano justiciera y eslabón entre Sandino que expulsó a la infantería de marines norteamericanos y el inicio del fin de la dictadura somocista vasalla del imperio, fin que materializa el FSLN el 19 de Julio de 1979 con la Revolución Popular Sandinista que continuamos impulsando más allá, todas y todos juntos, unidos en paz, libertad y progreso.
-Rigoberto, con su expresión práctica de amor sublime, sacrificando su vida, hace aportes inconmensurables con su ejemplo, a la construcción de nuestra patria revolucionaria. Con su espíritu rebelde conduce su trascendental acción a una causa justa.
En su Carta Testamento expresa su Amor filial a su querida Madre Soledad López, además expresa su Amor Social al Pueblo nicaragüense.
Manifiesta su Amor a la Patria, tratando de lograr que Nicaragua vuelva a ser (o sea por primera vez) una Patria Libre, sin afrenta y sin manchas.
Pone en práctica su Amor a la Dignidad. Dice Rigoberto en su Carta: Lo mío no ha sido un sacrificio sino un deber que espero haber cumplido. Mensaje que convirtió en una realidad heroica, ejemplar.
Pone de manifiesto su Amor a la Libertad, su acción es por una Patria Libre sin intervenciones, ni cipayos vende patria.
Nos demuestra su Amor al ser humano y solidaridad, si perezco en mi intento, dice Rigoberto, no quiero que se culpe a nadie absolutamente, pues todo ha sido decisión mía.
Decisión, sacrificio, desprendimiento, deber: Son aportes de gran significado que deja Rigoberto a la construcción de nuestra Patria Revolucionaria, Nicaragua. En la Carta Testamento a su Mamá, escribe Rigoberto: Lo que yo he hecho es un deber, que cualquier nicaragüense que deveras quiera a su Patria debía haber llevado a cabo hace mucho tiempo.
Rigoberto es un ejemplo extraordinario de aporte integral, de contribución a la construcción de la Patria Revolucionaria nicaragüense que continua hasta el infinito.
Hace justicia al criminal que asesino al General Sandino y a miles de patriotas nicaragüense y también a internacionalistas de América Latina y El Caribe, que lucharon con Sandino integrados en el Ejército Defensor de la Soberanía Nacional.
Y al imperio gringo, a su Gobierno, que son cómplices y coautores del crimen contra Sandino, con su heroica acción Rigoberto los increpa: No nos vencieron, no nos vencen, no nos vencerán y continuamos la lucha, seremos libres y nosotros decimos somos libres, porque seguimos siendo Patria Libre o Morir.
-Hijo de Soledad López y Francisco Pérez, el Poeta Rigoberto López Pérez nació en un hogar muy humilde, condición que lo lleva a formarse como sastre y luego a estudiar mecanografía y taquigrafía; incursionó en la literatura, la música y la poesía, forjando su visión política, humanista y sobre todo su amor a la Patria.
A medida que se adentrado en la lectura y amplió su visión de la realidad de Nicaragua, Rigoberto fue forjando su convicción revolucionaria con el rechazo al tirano que asesinó al General de Hombres y Mujeres Libres Augusto C. Sandino, transmitiéndolo a través de sus poemas y pasando luego a la acción, preparándose conscientemente desde San Salvador donde vivía temporalmente.
-Rigoberto López Pérez no solo era un militante político anti somocista comprometido con el legado del General Augusto C. Sandino, sino también un poeta y músico talentoso. Sus obras artísticas, impregnadas de un profundo sentido de justicia social y amor por su Patria, resonaron en sectores populares. Sus poemas y canciones fomentaron un espíritu de resistencia y esperanza entre nuestro Pueblo, sirviendo como una fuente de inspiración y unidad en tiempos de crueldad somocista. Es un ejemplo integral para todas y todos nosotros para fortalecer nuestra convicción, nuestra moral y nuestra acción Revolucionaria Sandinista.
-Como dice el Comandante Carlos Fonseca, el acto justiciero de Rigoberto no es el resultado de una decisión instantánea en el momento supremo. Se trata de una decisión meditada, consciente, vital.
-La obra y legado de Rigoberto López Pérez trasciende su muerte. Es héroe, mártir y símbolo de la resistencia contra la opresión y la intervención. Su vida y sacrificio lo conmemoramos como ejemplo del compromiso con la Patria, la Revolución. Su acción inspiró a generaciones de nicaragüenses a luchar por una patria libre, sin injerencias, ni intervenciones de potencias extranjeras.
-Rigoberto López Pérez es recordado como héroe que dio su vida por su país y como ser humano que, a través de su arte y su acción decisiva, contribuyó de manera fundamental a la construcción de la conciencia revolucionaria anti somocista en Nicaragua. Su historia es un recordatorio poderoso de cómo la juventud, como ustedes, pueden defender la soberanía y dignidad del Pueblo de Nicaragua, que juntos y unidos continuamos defendiendo.
-Dos años después del Triunfo de la Revolución Popular Sandinista, el poeta y patriota que marcó el principio del fin de la tiranía somocista en una acción de entrega y sacrificio sin parangón por la libertad de Nicaragua, Rigoberto López Pérez fue declarado Héroe Nacional.
-El 21 de septiembre de 1981, la Junta de Gobierno de Reconstrucción Nacional de La República de Nicaragua dirigida por le Comandante Daniel acuerda otorgar oficialmente, el título de “HÉROE NACIONAL” al Patriota Rigoberto López Pérez reconociendo su gesta heroica llevada a cabo en León, al ajusticiar en 1956 al tirano Anastasio Somoza García, dando inicio a una nueva etapa de ascenso en la lucha revolucionaria.
Además de lo que hemos puntualizado, muchos aportes hizo y continúa haciendo con su ejemplo el héroe Nacional Rigoberto López Pérez a la construcción de la Patria Revolucionaria:
Su vida, obra, ejemplo y legado forman parte de la visión y práctica política que guía el quehacer y razón de ser del Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional en defensa de las clases populares y en la construcción de la Patria Revolucionaria.
El heroísmo de Rigoberto López Pérez es consecuente con las aspiraciones históricas de nuestro pueblo, de vivir libre de toda injerencia imperial, neocolonialista.
Rigoberto pasó de los ideales, a la acción. Combinando arte, poesía y acción, escribiendo un poema histórico con su propia sangre, con su propia vida.
Su legado continúa inspirando las transformaciones sociales, políticas, culturales, económicas que lleva adelante nuestro Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional y el Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional.
-La acción de Rigoberto destruyó un mito de invulnerabilidad de la dictadura y reafirmó un método de lucha, como afirma el Comandante José Benito Escobar en el libro que dedica a su gesta heroica. Con su sacrificio, provocó un cambio de ciclo histórico, que más tarde desembocaría en la lucha guerrillera y triunfo del Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional.
-El legado de Rigoberto López Pérez continúa inspirando las transformaciones sociales, políticas, culturales y económicas llevadas adelante por el Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional. Nos recuerda la importancia de la integración del arte, la educación y la acción política como herramientas para la construcción de un futuro donde prevalezca la justicia social, la equidad, la Paz en Nicaragua y el Mundo y se detengan y no se repitan genocidios como los que buscan exterminar al pueblo Palestino. El Mundo Multipolar y Pluricéntrico nace, se desarrolla y se fortalece para bien de la Humanidad.
-Su vida nos invita a reflexionar sobre la lucha continua contra las fuerzas que buscan socavar la autodeterminación y la soberanía de los pueblos. Rigoberto López Pérez, héroe nacional, nos enseña que cada acción justa tiene el potencial de iniciar sensibles cambios que pueden transformar el futuro de un Pueblo.
-Nuestro héroe Nacional Rigoberto López Pérez ha dejado una huella indeleble en la memoria de nuestro Pueblo. Su vida y su sacrificio representan el espíritu indomable de nuestra lucha por la soberanía, la justicia social, el Bien Común, pilares fundamentales del Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional, del Comandante Daniel de la Compañera Rosario, del Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional y del Pueblo Presidente. En Mayo mes de la Dignidad, mes de la Madre, de los Trabajadores y recordando a nuestros Héroes y Mártires, a nuestros ancestros y a dos meses y una semana del 45/19 rendimos homenaje en su Natalicio a Rigoberto López Pérez, Héroe Nacional que ofrendó su vida, como un deber patriótico en bien de todas y todos los nicaragüenses.

We appreciate the invitation and being able to meet with you.
Celebrating the 95th Anniversary of the Birth of our National Hero Rigoberto López Pérez, fills us with joy and satisfaction, by sharing among us all the remembrance and historical memory of Rigoberto, who, while loving his life intensely, voluntarily gave it up in order to contribute heroically to the beginning of the end of the dictatorship and the process of political, social, revolutionary consciousness, which was later carried forward by the Sandinista National Liberation Front. Comandante Daniel and Compañera Rosario who also share this celebration with us, send their fraternal greetings to you.
On September 21st 1956, Rigoberto López Pérez carried out an act that changed and transformed the course of struggle in Nicaraguan history: the execution of Anastasio Somoza García. This deed not only sought to eliminate a dictator, an instrument of U.S. intervention, but also to encourage the Nicaraguan population towards revolutionary action and to give continuity to the legacy of the General of Free Men and Women, Augusto C. Sandino. This is one of Rigoberto’s contributions to our Sandinista Popular Revolution.
Comandante Carlos Fonseca, affirms that: Rigoberto López Pérez, is the twenty-seven-year-old Nicaraguan hero and poet, who gave his life to execute in 1956, the murderer who, in the pay of the American Embassy, of US imperialism, crucified Augusto C. Sandino.
Comandante Daniel Ortega has told us that Rigoberto is a continuation of Sandino’s struggle. It is Sandino, through Rigoberto, doing justice. We can see that it is indeed his contribution to the application of justice for the crime against Sandino. There is a common thread between Sandino and Rigoberto López Pérez. Rigoberto is the instrument of justice and a link between Sandino, who expelled the US Marine infantry, and the beginning of the end of the Somoza dictatorship, a vassal of the empire, an end that the FSLN brought about on July 19th 1979 with the Sandinista Popular Revolution which we continue to develop further, all of us together, united in peace, freedom and progress.
Rigoberto, with his practical expression of sublime love, sacrificing his life, has made an immeasurable contribution with his example, to the construction of our revolutionary patriotic Nation. With his rebellious spirit he made his momentous action in a just cause.
In his last Letter and Testament he expresses his filial Love to his beloved Mother Soledad López and he also expresses his Social Love to the Nicaraguan People.
He expresses his love for the Nation, trying to make Nicaragua a Free Nation again (actually, for the first time), free from shame and wiped clean of every stain.
He puts his love of Dignity into practice. Rigoberto says in his Letter: Mine has not been a sacrifice but a duty that I hope I have fulfilled. That message he turned into a heroic, exemplary reality.
He showed his Love for Freedom, his action is one for a Free Nation, free of foreign intervention, free of treacherous quislings.
He shows us his love for the human person and solidarity, if I perish in my attempt, says Rigoberto, I absolutely do not want anyone else to be blamed, because everything has been my own decision.
Decision, sacrifice, detachment, duty: These are contributions of great significance which Rigoberto leaves to the construction of our Revolutionary Patriotic Nation, Nicaragua. In that last Letter and Testament to his Mother, Rigoberto writes: What I have done is a duty that any Nicaraguan who really loves their Nation should have carried out a long time ago.
Rigoberto is an extraordinary example of principled contribution, a contribution to the construction of Nicaragua’s Revolutionary Patriotic Nation that stretches to infinity.
He brought justice to the criminal who murdered General Sandino and thousands of Nicaraguan patriots and also internationalists from Latin America and the Caribbean, who fought with Sandino integrated into the Army in Defense of National Sovereignty.
And to the Gringo empire, to its Government, who are accomplices and co-authors of the crime against Sandino, with his heroic action Rigoberto rebukes them: They did not defeat us, they do not defeat us, they will not defeat us and we continue the struggle, we will be free and we declare ouirselves to be free, because we remain a Free Nation or Death.
The son of Soledad López and Francisco Pérez, the poet Rigoberto López Pérez was born in a very humble home, a condition that lead him to train as a tailor and then to study typing and shorthand; he dabbled in literature, music and poetry, forging his political, humanist vision and above all his love for the Nation.
As he delved into reading and expanded his vision of the reality of Nicaragua, Rigoberto forged his revolutionary conviction rejecting the tyrant who assassinated the General of Free Men and Women Augusto C.
Sandino, transmitting it through his poems and then moving on to action, consciously preparing himself in San Salvador where he lived for a while.
Rigoberto López Pérez was not only an anti-Somoza political militant committed to the legacy of General Augusto C. Sandino, but also a talented poet and musician. His artistic works, imbued with a deep sense of social justice and love for his Nation, resonated with the popular classes. His poems and songs fostered a spirit of resistance and hope among our people, serving as a source of inspiration and unity in the times of the Somoza family’s cruelty. He is an integral example for all of us to strengthen our conviction, our morality and our Sandinista Revolutionary actions.
As Comandante Carlos Fonseca says, Rigoberto’s act of justice was not the result of an instant decision at the supreme moment. It was a thoughtful, conscious, vital decision.
The work and legacy of Rigoberto López Pérez transcends his death. He is a hero, a martyr and a symbol of resistance against oppression and intervention. We commemorate his life and sacrifice as an example of commitment to the Nation, to the Revolution. His action inspired generations of Nicaraguans to fight for a free Nation, without interference or interventions by foreign powers.
Rigoberto López Pérez is remembered as a hero who gave his life for his country and as a human being who, through his art and through decisive action, contributed fundamentally to the construction of the anti-Somoza revolutionary consciousness in Nicaragua. His story is a powerful reminder of how young people, like yourselves, can defend the sovereignty and dignity of the People of Nicaragua, which united together we continue to defend.
Two years after the triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, this poet and patriot who marked the beginning of the end of the Somoza tyranny in an action of unparalleled dedication and sacrifice for the freedom of Nicaragua, Rigoberto López Pérez, was declared a National Hero.
On September 21st 1981, the Government Junta for National Reconstruction of the Republic of Nicaragua led by Comandante Daniel agreed officially to grant the title of “NATIONAL HERO” to the Patriot Rigoberto López Pérez, recognizing his heroic deed carried out in León, when he executed the tyrant Anastasio Somoza García in 1956, starting a new stage of ascent in the revolutionary struggle.
In addition to what we have explained, National Hero Rigoberto López Pérez made and continues to make many contributions with his example to the construction of the Revolutionary Patriotic Nation :
His life, work, example and legacy are part of the political vision and practice that guides the work and reason for being of the Sandinista National Liberation Front in defense of the popular classes and in the construction of the Revolutionary Nation.
The heroism of Rigoberto López Pérez is consistent with the historic aspirations of our people, to live free from all imperial, neocolonialist interference.
Rigoberto went from ideals to action, combining art, poetry and action, writing a historic poem with his own blood, with his own life.
His legacy continues to inspire the social, political, cultural and economic transformations carried out by our Government of Reconciliation and National Unity and the Sandinista National Liberation Front.
Rigoberto’s action destroyed the myth of the dictatorship’s invulnerability and reaffirmed a method of struggle, as Comandante José Benito Escobar states in the book he dedicates to his heroic deed. With his sacrifice, he caused a change in the historical cycle, which would later lead to the guerrilla struggle and triumph of the Sandinista National Liberation Front.
The legacy of Rigoberto López Pérez continues to inspire the social, political, cultural and economic transformations carried out by the Sandinista National Liberation Front. It reminds us of the importance of the integration of art, education and political action as tools for the construction of a future where social justice, equity and Peace prevail, in Nicaragua and the World so that genocides such as the one trying to exterminate the Palestinian people are stopped and not repeated. The Multipolar and Pluricentric World is born, develops and gathers strength for the good of humanity.
His life invites us to reflect on the continuous struggle against the forces that seek to undermine the self-determination and sovereignty of peoples. Rigoberto López Pérez, National Hero, teaches us that every just action has the potential to initiate deeply needed changes that can transform the future of a whole People.
Our National Hero Rigoberto López Pérez has left an indelible mark on the memory of our People. His life and sacrifice represent the indomitable spirit of our struggle for Sovereignty, Social Justice and the Common Good, fundamental pillars of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, of Comandante Daniel, of Compañera Rosario, of the Sandinista National Liberation Front and of the People as President. In May, this month of Dignity, month of the Mothers, of the Workers and of remembering our Heroes and Martyrs, our ancestors, just two months and one week away from the 45/19 anniversary, we pay tribute on his birthday to Rigoberto López Pérez, National Hero who offered his life, as a patriotic duty for the good of all Nicaraguans.
