Herman@s nicaragüenses, Familias de esta Tierra llena de Dignidad, de Amor a la Patria, a la Justicia, a la Libertad, el Domingo fueron las Elecciones Municipales, y estas Elecciones Municipales nos indican con toda claridad, que es posible ganar la Paz, que es posible asegurar la Paz.
Fueron Elecciones donde no se dispararon balas, no se quemaron a Estudiantes, Policías, Jóvenes, no se incendiaron Centros Médicos, Centros Escolares, no se bloqueó al Pueblo, no se bañó de sangre, como los terroristas, financiados por el Imperio yanqui, bañaron de sangre a Nicaragua. A una Nicaragua que estaba en Paz la bañaron de sangre, y pensaban que con el baño de sangre este Pueblo se iba a rendir, pensaron que con el baño de sangre este Pueblo iba a salir huyendo; y cuánta paciencia tuvo el Pueblo, cuánta paciencia tuvo la Policía.
Ellos ya se sentían dueños de Nicaragua, y algunos Obispos ya se sentían también gobernando Nicaragua, y no tomaban en cuenta que aquí en este País a lo largo de la Historia el Pueblo ha tenido que enfrentar, una y otra vez, a los Imperialistas de la Tierra, desde los que llegaron con Colón a hacerse dueños de las tierras que no eran de ellos, a robarle la riqueza a nuestros Antepasados, a esclavizarlos, explotarlos, asesinarlos, a tratar de borrarles su Identidad, hasta los expansionistas e imperialistas yanquis.
Porque aquí en Nicaragua, a los nicaragüenses, a nuestros antepasados, a nosotros mismos en estos tiempos, les ha tocado enfrentarse directamente a los invasores yanquis, a los que los traidores trajeron con William Walker, y se creían dueños de Nicaragua, y ya Walker era el Presidente de Nicaragua.
Ah, ahí es donde se equivocan, porque ven a un Pueblo humilde, trabajador, campesino, piensan que lo ponen a temblar, y no se dan cuenta que en la sangre, que en el Corazón de los nicaragüenses corre por nuestras venas, como bien decía nuestro General Sandino, la Sangre Indígena. Ahí corre, ahí está el sello de la Rebeldía, de la Dignidad, frente a la injusticia, frente a la opresión, frente a la colonización. No es una rebeldía gratuita.
Nuestros Antepasados Indígenas no invitaron a los españoles a que viniesen a ocupar Nicaragua, con las “bendiciones” del Papa, que podrían hacer y deshacer en Nicaragua y en todos estos Países que fueron ocupados por los españoles, que fueron colonizados por los españoles.
No, ellos vinieron con las armas a atacar, a destruir a nuestros Antepasados que no tenían el armamento moderno que ellos traían, y donde incluso verlos aparecer en caballos, pues lógicamente era un arma poderosa, porque nuestros Antepasados no conocían el caballo; entonces un caballo se convertía en un medio de transporte de guerra para destruir las Comunidades Campesinas, para incendiarlas, para asesinar, para echarles a los perros, ¡así lo hicieron los colonialistas!
Ahí está comprobado en la Historia, escrita por ellos mismos, cómo se disfrutaba cuando a Pobladores Originarios, Indígenas que se les rebelaban, entonces como castigo los tiraban a los perros, y los perros a destrozarlos. Y ellos contentos ahí, ¡contentos!
Esa ha sido nuestra Historia, ¡y la Historia no se debe olvidar! No se debe olvidar la Historia, porque precisamente, esos ejemplos de los Héroes resistiendo con Diriangén a la cabeza, a los españoles, y muriendo, dando la Vida por sus tierras, por su Cultura, por su Identidad, esos Combatientes de San Jacinto, con José Dolores Estrada y Andrés Castro derrotando al yanqui invasor, es lo que le ha dado la fortaleza a este Pueblo y nos da la fortaleza a todos nosotros, de que es bien cierto, que por muy grande que sea Goliat, ahí está David con la honda para derribarlo, como lo hemos derribado aquí en nuestro País.
Y después de Walker vinieron las tropas del Ejército norteamericano, y ahí se alzó la Dignidad del Pueblo nicaragüense, y ahí se alzó, más allá del Universo, el ejemplo del General Benjamín Zeledón enfrentado a los yanquis invasores, rodeado por las tropas del Ejército más poderoso de la Tierra en ese entonces, ahí en El Coyotepe, en toda esa zona de El Coyotepe y La Barranca.
Y llegando a parlamentar donde estaba resistiendo el General Benjamín Zeledón, llegando a parlamentar Coroneles yanquis, para decirle que se rindiera y que le iban a perdonar la Vida, que no lo iban a fusilar. ¿Y él cómo les respondió? El respondió con una carta que le envió a su esposa, a sus hijos, donde les decía que habían llegado los tales yanquis a decirle que se rindiera.
Pero que él quería que entendieran, los hijos y la madre de sus hijos, que por muy doloroso que pareciera no le quedaba más alternativa que defender la Patria, y si en la defensa de la Patria iba a entregar su Vida, eso debía reconocerse como un gesto de Dignidad, y que era la herencia que él podía darle no solamente al Pueblo de Nicaragua sino también a su Familia, la Dignidad del que no se rinde ni se vende, y el 4 de Octubre día de su cumpleaños, del año 1912, entregó su Vida el General Zeledón.
Y ahí estaba el General Sandino, un muchacho, era un muchacho, todavía no era General, y vio cómo los yanqui andaban paseando en una carreta el cadáver de Zeledón, para que a la gente le entrara miedo y que cuando vieran a un yanqui se le arrodillaran al yanqui y que le temblaran al yanqui.
Más bien eso provocó indignación en nuestro General Sandino que era un muchacho, un joven como ustedes, y él lo cuenta, cómo cuando vio esa vergüenza para Nicaragua, cómo humillaban los yanquis a Nicaragua, cómo asesinaban a los Héroes, él se llenó de Dignidad, de la Dignidad que le estaba transmitiendo, que le estaba trasladando el General Zeledón. Y por eso nuestro General Sandino es hijo del General Zeledón, y por eso el General Sandino asumió con firmeza darle continuidad a la batalla que había iniciado Zeledón.
Porque el País siguió ocupado por los yanquis, y fue Sandino el que retomó la lucha y encabezó la lucha, y no encabezó la lucha con enormes destacamentos de Combatientes, sino que encabezó la lucha con un pequeño grupo de voluntarios a quienes dijo: Bueno, vamos a enfrentar a estos yanquis que nos tienen invadida nuestra Patria. Y les dijo a los Combatientes que habían andado con él, cuántos estaban dispuestos a acompañarlo en ese desafío, y los que estaban presentes en ese momento era un pequeño grupo, y todos levantaron la mano, 29, que eran 30 con él, para dar la batalla frente al yanqui, hasta expulsarlo.
Y se tuvieron que retirar las tropas yanquis, no pudieron derrotar a Sandino, tuvieron que recurrir a la traición, ya conocemos toda la Historia, tuvieron que recurrir a la traición, asesinar a Sandino y poner en su lugar a Somoza, al que tranquilamente los Presidentes yanquis decían cuando recibían a Somoza allá en los Estados Unidos, porque había gente que les preguntaba, pero ¿cómo reciben a Somoza si ese es un asesino que fue puesto por ustedes?
Por lo mismo, será un hijo, sí, decían la palabra que yo prefiero decir que era “un hijo de perra”, con perdón de las perras, sí, será “un hijo de perra”, pero es nuestro “hijo de perra”, decían. Así decía el yanqui tranquilamente, los Presidentes yanquis, pero es nuestro “hijo de perra”. Entonces, ¿qué son ellos? Perras, que paren perros, eso son, perros que paren perros, para andar destruyendo el Mundo, para andar destruyendo a la Humanidad, para andar destruyendo a los Pueblos.
Y en estas Elecciones Municipales yo diría que fue una Lección de Paz: No hubieron altercados, no hubieron pedradas, no hubieron pleitos, no hubieron balazos, no hubieron heridos, no hubieron muertos. ¿Eso qué significa? Que todos los nicaragüenses, todos, de diferente pensamiento político, de diferente ideología, que antes con gran facilidad recurrían al enfrentamiento cuando venía una Elección, a matar, a asesinar, a destruir las urnas.
Los nicaragüenses todos, independientemente de su ideología, de su pensamiento religioso, en estos años que han transcurrido, donde han visto los resultados, los frutos de la Paz, porque, ¿quién puede negar aquí que se han construido Escuelas por todo el País, se han multiplicado las Escuelas, que se han multiplicado los Puestos de Salud en todo el País, quién puede negarlo, que se han levantado Hospitales y seguimos construyendo Hospitales?
Vamos avanzando en la construcción de Hospitales, y pronto empezaremos a inaugurar el Hospital de Chinandega que está prácticamente terminado, solo falta la formalidad de la inauguración. Sí, ya están practicando, porque están atendiendo a la gente, están poniendo a prueba todos los instrumentos, todas las capacidades de los Médicos, de los Especialistas, atendiendo ya a la población.

en León, Hospital en Ocotal, Nueva Segovia, pero estamos hablando de Hospitales,
claro, hay que combinar en los Departamentos, Puestos de Salud, Casas de la
Mujer y también buenos Hospitales como los que
estamos
construyendo. Porque así como los ricos, los capitalistas
siempre buscan los buenos Hospitales donde a un pobre si llega ahí muriendo, le dicen, si
no ponés la plata no entrás. Y los pobres se mueren
en las puertas de los Hospitales de los ricos,.
Aquí no, aquí se están construyendo Hospitales con todas las condiciones, con todas las tecnologías, con todas las capacidades de los Hospitales que atienden a los ricos. Porque igual y más Derecho tienen los pobres, igual y más Derecho tiene el Pueblo a una atención médica de calidad.
También se está construyendo un gran Hospital en Bilwi, en la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua, ¡en Bilwi! Porque ese es otro paso histórico, la Costa del Caribe desde el punto de vista formal, institucional, ha estado integrada al Estado nicaragüense, pero en la realidad no ha estado integrada, porque ni Caminos ni Carreteras habían para llegar o para salir de la Costa del Caribe. Había que hacer recorridos, irse a embarcar al Río Rama y luego ir en esas lanchitas hasta Bluefields y de Bluefields en lanchitas ir a los Pueblos, a Laguna de Perlas, a Sandy Bay, a todas las Comunidades que están en la Costa del Caribe.
Igualmente en el Norte; en el Caribe Sur, en Bluefields se construyó esa carretera, una carretera que se construye solamente en los Países ricos, desarrollados, una carretera que es mucho más cara que una carretera de adoquín, mucho más cara que una carretera de asfalto, porque son carreteras de concreto y la carretera de concreto aguanta, resiste las lluvias que en esa zona son muy copiosas y destruyen el adoquín, destruyen el asfalto.
Pero es que si los vemos aquí en los diferentes lugares de nuestro País donde se construye con adoquín, tiene poca duración la calle, el camino, con facilidad se aflojan los adoquines, con facilidad se desprenden y si se desprendió un adoquín se desprendieron ya varios adoquines.
En el caso del asfalto, claro, el asfalto no se puede desprender, pero sí es bien frágil, con un poco de lluvia se abren fisuras y después de las fisuras se hace una lagunita. Yo recuerdo un recorrido allá para el lado de Chontales, luego El Rama, todos esos lados donde se había logrado trabajar con asfalto, al poco tiempo estaban las grandes lagunas, porque llueve tanto ahí y no hay asfalto que lo resista.
Entonces, hablando con nuestro Ministro de Hacienda, el Compañero Iván Acosta, y hablando también con el General Oscar Mojica, Ministro de Construcción y Transporte, que es un rayo construyendo carreteras y puentes por todos lados, les dije: Vean, aquí no debemos seguir construyendo ni con adoquines, ni con asfalto, aunque sea más caro, a lo largo resulta más caro tener que estar cambiando adoquín más seguido porque se destruye rápidamente, o el asfalto; en cambio el concreto.
Así es que, hay que ajustarse en el Presupuesto y hablar con las Alcaldías, y eso ya se ha venido haciendo, para que en adelante, bueno, lo que ya se está haciendo en adoquín habrá que terminarlo, pero en adelante, la nueva calle que haya que abrir, una cuadra que sea, un kilómetro, 100 kilómetros, a construirlos con concreto para que puedan resistir.
Porque la verdad es que esa es una economía mal entendida, la del adoquín, todos ustedes son testigos cómo el adoquín se aflojó con la pasadera de camiones, se desbarató y después hasta desapareció, porque cuando ya la gente ve el adoquín así, empiezan a agarrarlos para buscar cómo hacer algunos muritos ahí en la casa. ¡Sí, esa es la verdad!
Es muy frágil el adoquín y el asfalto tiene ese otro problema, entonces ya asumimos ese compromiso, y bueno, tener un poco de paciencia lógicamente, porque donde se iba a construir con adoquín; bueno, vamos a construir ahora con concreto y no con asfalto, ni con adoquín. Entonces a la población se le va a explicar y tienen que esperar un poco más porque es más costoso, y que en lugar de construir 5 kilómetros que se iban a hacer con adoquín, vamos a construir 2 kilómetros con concreto, pero eso va quedando ya, y luego otros 2 kilómetros con concreto, hasta concluir los 5 kilómetros que hayan que construirse en ese lugar, o 10 kilómetros en otro lugar, o 100 kilómetros otro lugar.
Así es que esta es una buena noticia que les damos a todas las Familia que son las que tragan polvo y se enlodan ahí.
Y les decía, a propósito de estas obras y cuántas obras más que podemos mencionar, obras que ni las menciono porque el Pueblo las ve y las toca, el Pueblo está disfrutando de esas carreteras, de esos caminos, esa construcción del puente sobre el Río Wawa, ¡ese es un hecho histórico! y lo estamos haciendo con la confianza, con la seguridad de que este es un Pueblo que se merece eso, y más.
Frente a todo esto que el Pueblo ha vivido, que lo ha visto, porque en los años 80 ya sabemos, era una guerra y nuestra economía era una economía de guerra; en los 90 llegaron al Gobierno los que le sirven a los yanquis, financiados por los yanquis para que pudiesen contar con muchos recursos para las Elecciones, para las votaciones, para buscar los votos, pero luego cuando ya llegan al Gobierno, ¿qué hacen? Hacen lo que le interesa a los ricos, a los capitalistas, a las grandes Empresas, a los yanquis: Empiezan a privatizar todo, desde las Escuelas, la Salud, las Empresas.
Aquí privatizaron Empresas que dan ingresos multimillonarios, desgraciadamente esos Gobiernos entregaron, y claro, se ganaron también por debajo sus centavitos, sí, buenos centavitos se ganaban por debajo para que les dieran a ellos esas concesiones, y concesiones que tienen que ver con las Comunicaciones.
Fíjense bien el negocio que significan las Comunicaciones en estos tiempos de los celulares, del Internet, de todo lo que ya conocemos. Ese es un tremendo negocio en cualquier País del Mundo, son Empresas que nunca dejan de ganar, incluso cuando la pandemia, ganaron mucho más, porque como la gente no podía salir tenía que vivir nada más comunicándose.
Aquí esas Empresas tienen ingresos multimillonarios, es cierto que tienen que pagar un impuesto, pero no es una relación justa la que tenemos, y ahí habrá que ver con ellos cómo se habla para que puedan aportar más. Tanto ganan más, tanto más deben aportar por la vía de los impuestos para poder construir más Escuelas, más Puestos de Salud, más Carreteras, más Caminos. ¡Sí, más deben aportar!
Y así todas las Empresas, grandes Empresas, que incluso cuando hicimos la Reforma Tributaria pegaron gritos al cielo, y dijeron que se iba a quebrar la economía, que se iba a hundir la economía, que iban a desaparecer las Grandes Empresas, las Pequeñas Empresas, las Medianas Empresas, preocupados ellos por las Pequeñas Empresas. Entonces, todo eso decían.
La verdad es que el Pueblo ha entendido, que cuando hay Paz y un Gobierno dispuesto a trabajar con el Pueblo y para el Pueblo, entonces los frutos se multiplican. Esto el Pueblo lo vino viendo a partir del año 2007 donde ya logramos gobernar en Tiempos de Paz, pero qué Paz si continuamente nos están haciendo la guerra, aplicando sanciones, agresiones.
Pero aun así logramos ir creciendo y construyendo, creciendo y construyendo incluso Centros Deportivos extraordinarios como este, el Centro Alexis Argüello, igual, como el Estadio Nacional, un Estadio de primera línea. O sea, se ha multiplicado, y eso lo ha visto el Pueblo, lo ve la Comunidad cómo el Gobierno ha venido promoviendo las actividades productivas.
Por esa razón, cuando ya estábamos en el año
2018, entrando al año 2018 es que se produjo el intento de Golpe de Estado, porque
se daban cuenta que cuanto más tiempo estuviera el
Frente Sandinista gobernando y haciendo obras que venía haciendo en favor del
Pueblo, sin hacer diferencias políticas ni ideológicas a la hora de llevar
adelante una obra, entonces se dieron cuenta que ellos no podrían llegar al
Gobierno, porque habían tenido 17 años en el Gobierno, con todo el apoyo de los
yanquis y
los europeos. ¿Y dónde están los resultados?
¿Dónde están las promesas que hicieron? El Pueblo se dio cuenta que más
bien tuvieron pérdidas con esos Gobiernos Neoliberales.
Luego en el 2018 entonces empezaron con la campaña que con la Reforma Tributaria que hicimos, que se iba a hundir la economía, que no iba a haber crecimiento económico, y cuando viene el COVID, peor, dijeron aquí la economía se hunde… Sí, así lo decían, que se hundía la economía nicaragüense, que el País iba a estar en la quiebra total y todo el mundo en el desempleo, y a cerrar Escuelas y a cerrar Hospitales; o sea, una campaña diabólica.
Pasó el 2018, y continuamos. Recuerdo que en medio del 2018 todavía inauguramos obras en diferentes puntos del País y aquí en Managua. Y luego del 2018 va cobrando conciencia la gente, aun aquella que tiene otras simpatías políticas, tiene otras banderas políticas, va cobrando conciencia y dice: Ah, si aquí tuvimos un Alcalde, cuántas veces no tuvimos Alcaldes, dicen ellos, un montón de veces tuvimos Alcaldes; en los 17 años tuvieron Alcaldes por todos lados, ¿y qué hicieron?
En cambio, dicen, estos Sandinistas desde el año 2007, a pesar del 2018, han continuado haciendo más obras y más obras y más obras. Eso es lo que explica por qué el Pueblo ya está reconociendo el valor que tiene la Paz. Un Pueblo en Paz y con un Gobierno comprometido con los intereses del Pueblo, es un Pueblo que se beneficia y van creciendo en todos los aspectos las Familias nicaragüenses, va creciendo el País.
Podemos decir que es un hecho histórico esta Elección del pasado Domingo, porque por primera vez en la Historia de nuestro País el Pueblo depositó su voto pensando en el Bienestar de las Familias y no pensando en Partidos Políticos, en tanto que están convencidos que el Partido Político al que ellos pertenecían no había hecho nada, y que no quedaba más camino que seguir votando por el Frente.
Primera vez en la Historia, les decía, en que en día de Elecciones no hay agresiones, no hay pedradas, no hay garrotazos, no hay balazos, no hay heridos… ¡No corrió una gota de sangre! Y eso que hicieron planes, sí hicieron planes, auspiciados por los yanquis, por algunos Gobiernos europeos, cuyos Embajadores conspiran aquí y se reúnen con los terroristas para alentarlos y darles financiamientos para que promuevan la violencia, que promuevan el terror.
A pesar de eso, de los millones que les han invertido y que les dan desde Costa Rica, Costa Rica es una base que tienen ellos ahí, no lograron provocar hechos de violencia. ¿Por qué? Porque ya este Pueblo está convencido que vale más, vale mucho más para el Progreso y Bienestar del País, un voto que una gota de sangre… ¡Vale más! ¡Vale más!
Y felicitar en este día a todos los miles y miles y miles y miles de nicaragüenses que fueron a votar, a las Familias que fueron a votar, a los que participaron en la organización electoral que es muy compleja, y felicitar sobre todo a esta Juventud que ha estado ahí siempre con el Pueblo, al lado del Pueblo, librando múltiples batallas.
Ustedes tienen el Concierto, y quiero concluir refiriéndome a una Reunión que se está llevando a cabo en estos momentos allá en Egipto, le llaman la COP. Esta es la COP número no sé cuánto ya, porque desde el año 1995 empezaron a hacer estas Reuniones allá en Alemania, porque estaban preocupados por el Calentamiento Global, por el envenenamiento del Planeta, por la destrucción del Planeta. Y sacan Acuerdos, y no cumplen ninguno, y se vuelven a reunir y sacan Acuerdos, y no cumplen ninguno. ¿Quiénes no cumplen ninguno? Los Países que más contaminan al Planeta, que son los que tendrían que cumplir con lo que mandan los Acuerdos.
Porque Países como los nuestros aquí en Centroamérica y el Caribe, que no tenemos mayores niveles de contaminación sino que somos víctimas más bien del Calentamiento Global, de ahí los huracanes, las sequías, todo lo que ya conocemos, que siempre está golpeando esta zona que está reconocida por la Comunidad Internacional y por los Científicos, entre otras zonas, en Asia, en África, está reconocida aquí en América, Centroamérica y el Caribe como una zona altamente vulnerable ante el Calentamiento Global.
Bueno, una Reunión más, mandamos una Delegación lógicamente, para escuchar y también por lo menos para que nos escuchen, pero con estas Reuniones pasa lo mismo que pasa con Naciones Unidas. Es lo mismo, es decir, en Naciones Unidas ¿qué se dice? Que debe defender, respetar los Principios de la Carta de Fundación de Naciones Unidas, ¡no se cumple! ¿Y quiénes no la cumplen? Los que tienen el poder para decir, yo no la cumplo. ¿Quiénes tienen ese poder? Los Imperialistas de la Tierra, que siguen siendo los mismos.
Si aquí hay que señalar a los culpables de la destrucción del Planeta, del Calentamiento Global, de la destrucción y la esclavitud de la Humanidad, es a los Países, a las Naciones que entonces ya eran Naciones desarrolladas, ricas, y que se mataban entre sí para ver quién dominaba el Mundo. Y me refiero a Europa. Sí, se mataban los europeos, y era aquella la época donde habían Reyes por todos lados en Europa, y todos llegaban donde el Papa para que el Papa les pusiera la Corona. Sí, así era.
Después se iban a invadir África, a invadir Asia, a invadir estas tierras, a asesinar, a robar la riqueza, a destruir, a contaminar, sí, a esclavizar a millones de Seres Humanos como esclavizaron. Sí, un crimen de lesa humanidad esclavizar a Seres Humanos, sobre todo de África, Familias enteras esclavizadas, metidas en cárceles, amarradas de pies y manos con cadenas, desde el padre, la madre, los muchachos, los jóvenes, y los niños… ¡Todos!
Eran Familias enteras esclavizadas y luego transportadas por las grandes empresas europeas que hacían el negocio del transporte de esclavos para trasladarlos de aquellas zonas de África, donde iban los compradores de esclavos, iban a escoger a los esclavos, y pagaban, y ya se traían una mercadería humana. ¡Una brutalidad total! Y luego a trasladarlos a otras zonas, incluyendo a los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica donde se instaló la esclavitud.
Entonces, todos los años y todos los días estamos oyendo ahí en Naciones Unidas las protestas, los reclamos, porque no se cumple con los Acuerdos y que entonces el Mundo se va a destruir y la Humanidad va a desaparecer.
Ayer, o antier, habló el Secretario General de Naciones Unidas, António Guterres, habló en la Reunión de Egipto, y fíjense qué sabiduría la de este hombre. ¿Qué dijo? Que con lo que estaba pasando y con la destrucción del Planeta, que realmente no se hacía lo que se debía hacer, eso nos estaba llevando al suicidio a todos.
No, nosotros no queremos suicidarnos, señor Guterres, nosotros no queremos suicidarnos, ni los africanos se quieren suicidar, ni los asiáticos se quieren suicidar. Lo que tiene que decir es, y tener valentía para decirlo, que lo que se ha venido es cometiendo un crimen desde la época del Colonialismo, en contra de los Pueblos en Vías de Desarrollo, en contra de los Pueblos africanos, asiáticos, latinoamericanos y caribeños, se les ha venido destruyendo, se les ha venido asesinando, se les ha venido explotando, y con ello han venido destruyendo el Medio Ambiente.
Y ellos por otro lado, con sus grandes empresas y sus grandes industrias envenenando tranquilamente el Medio Ambiente, y ese veneno nos cae a nosotros, el veneno que producen ellos. Entonces, ¿quiénes son los asesinos del Medio Ambiente? Son los Países ricos, son los Países capitalistas los asesinos del Medio Ambiente. Dígalo señor Secretario de Naciones Unidas, tenga el valor de decirlo y no salir con el cuento de que aquí ya todos queremos suicidarnos.
Aquí nadie quiere suicidarse, aquí lo que estamos es enfrentados a una pandilla de asesinos que tiene el control de la Economía Global, que tiene el control del armamento atómico y que cometen crímenes todos los días. Y cometen crímenes en sus propios Países, se viven matando ahí, matando niños, matando Estudiantes. Todos los días pasa, no hay día donde no esté ahí la noticia en los Estados Unidos. Como ahí hay libre mercado con las armas, un niño sale con un arma y va a matar, un adulto, igual, cualquiera; asesinan tranquilamente, ahí no hay ninguna Seguridad.
Por otro lado, hablan en contra del Narcotráfico y el Crimen Organizado. ¿Por qué existe el Narcotráfico y el Crimen organizado? Esto es igual al Calentamiento Global, ¿por qué? Porque resulta que a los habitantes de esos Países ricos les encanta la marihuana, les encanta la coca, la droga, les encanta, se vuelven locos por ella, entonces son los mayores consumidores y pagan muy bien, y los que producen en estos lados sencillamente no son los que la consumen.
La llave para acabar con el Narcotráfico, el Crimen Organizado, el lavado de dinero, las mayores cantidades de dinero se lava en los Bancos norteamericanos, de parte de los narcotraficantes. ¿Quién tiene la llave? La tienen los Estados Unidos. ¿Quién tiene la llave? La tienen los europeos.
¿Por qué no controlan? ¿Por qué no controlan? Porque, quiérase o no, aquí en América Latina mucho se habla de Narco-Estado, pero los Narco-Estados están en los Países Desarrollados, y por eso es que nunca terminan con el consumo de la droga, ni la controlan; al contrario, se ha convertido en un enorme negocio donde se comprometen Funcionarios de la Policía, Funcionarios de la Inteligencia, Funcionarios del Congreso norteamericano aparecen comprometidos en ese tipo de actividades criminales.
La verdad es que tenemos que seguir luchando en estas condiciones; o sea, nosotros no nos rendimos frente a ese Goliat que sigue haciendo destrozos y barbaridades incluso en contra de su mismo Pueblo.
Y en Naciones Unidas, uno dice a veces, ¿pero realmente qué estamos haciendo en Naciones Unidas? Pero bueno, hay que continuar en Naciones Unidas, por lo menos para que se nos escuche y para exhibir y hacer ver que no existe Democracia en Naciones Unidas, que hay uno que se impone. Es el poder de las Potencias capitalistas, es lo que se impone.
Precisamente en estos días, en Naciones Unidas se hizo una votación sobre el tema del Bloqueo en Cuba. Una votación más. Año con año se vota en Naciones Unidas, a ver quiénes están a favor del Bloqueo en Cuba y quienes están en contra del Bloqueo en Cuba. Y ya generalmente andan por 190 Países, 188 Países, o sea, la inmensa mayoría; son 2, 3, 4 Países los que votan a favor de que se mantenga el Bloqueo en Cuba, el primero, claro, los Estados Unidos.
El resto de los Países del Mundo, incluso aquellos que son pro-norteamericanos, a pesar de que los yanquis los presionan para que voten a favor del Bloqueo, no se atreven. Porque se dan cuenta que convertirse en cómplices de un crimen de lesa humanidad que se comete todos los días ya por 60 años en contra de un Pueblo, el Pueblo de Cuba, el Pueblo de Fidel, de Martí, de Raúl, de Miguel Díaz-Canel, ese Pueblo Heroico que ha resistido y resiste un Bloqueo por más de 60 años.
Es el Pueblo el que sufre con esos Bloqueos, ¿y qué dice el Secretario General ante una votación como esa? Señor Guterres, usted debería decir, que si en la Asamblea General de Naciones Unidas, donde están los Representantes de todos los Países, están votando porque se levante el Bloqueo a Cuba, y son 180 votos contra 4 votos, entonces, ¿qué espera para tener el valor de decir que se cumpla con lo que están mandando los Pueblos?
Que se cumpla con el voto de las Naciones, de los Pueblos, si queremos tenerle algún respeto a Naciones Unidas; de lo contrario, yo les digo, Queridos Hermanos, no nos hagamos ilusiones con Naciones Unidas, eso es un desastre, que ha servido nada más para cometer crímenes horrendos, siempre en Países en Vías de Desarrollo.
Nuestra Solidaridad en este día con el Pueblo de Cuba, con las Familias cubanas y con la Juventud cubana que ha sido una Juventud Valiente, Heroica, Luchadora.
Y para ustedes, Queridos Muchachos, Queridas Muchachas, que han realizado este Congreso, un Congreso más, un Congreso no para platicar, no para estar hablando en el vacío, un Congreso para hacer, para actuar, para trabajar con el Pueblo y al lado del Pueblo. ¡Esa es la Juventud Sandinista!

Beloved Nicaraguans, families of this land full of Dignity, of Love for our Nation, for Justice, for Freedom, on Sunday the municipal elections took place, and these municipal elections show us very clearly that it is indeed possible to achieve Peace, that it is possible to ensure Peace.
These were elections where no shots were fired, no students, police or young people were set on fire, no medical centers or schools were set on fire, the People were not blockaded, no blood was shed, as the terrorists, financed by the Yankee empire, bathed Nicaragua in blood. A Nicaragua that was in Peace was bathed in blood, and they thought that with the bloodbath this People was going to surrender, they thought that with the bloodbath this People was going to run away; but how much patience the People displayed, how much patience the Police displayed.
They already felt they were Nicaragua’s owners, and some bishops already felt they too were ruling Nicaragua, but they failed to take into account that here in this Country throughout history the People have had to face, time and again, the Imperialists of the Land, from those who arrived with Columbus to become owners of the lands that were not theirs, to steal the wealth of our Ancestors, to enslave them, exploit them, murder them, to try to erase their Identity, as did also the Yankee expansionists and imperialists.
Because here in Nicaragua, Nicaraguans, our ancestors, ourselves in these times, have had to directly confront the Yankee invaders, whom the traitors first brought with William Walker, and they believed they owned Nicaragua, and Walker was then the President of Nicaragua.
Ah, but that’s where they go wrong, because they see a humble, hardworking, peasant people, they think they can make them tremble, and they don’t realize that in the blood, in Nicaraguans’ hearts, runs through our veins, as our General Sandino said, indigenous blood. There it runs, there is the guarantee of Rebellion, of Dignity in the face of injustice, in the face of oppression, in the face of colonization. It is not rebellion for nothing.
Our indigenous ancestors did not invite the Spanish to come and occupy Nicaragua, with the ”blessing” of the Pope, such that they could what they liked in Nicaragua and in all these countries that were occupied by the Spanish, that were colonized by the Spanish.
No, they came with weapons to attack, to destroy our ancestors who did not have the modern weapons that they brought, and where even to see them appear on horses, because of course they were a powerful weapon, because our ancestors did not know of horses; so then horses became a means of military transport to destroy peasant communities, to set them on fire, to murder, to throw people to the dogs, as the colonialists did!
There it is proven in history, as written by themselves, how it was a pleasure when the original people, the indigenous people who rebelled against them, as punishment they threw them to the dogs, for the dogs to destroy them. And they were happy at that… happy!
That has been our history, and history should not be forgotten! History should not be forgotten, because precisely, those examples of the heroes resisting the Spanish, with Diriangén in the lead and dying, giving their lives for their lands, for their Culture, for their Identity, those fighters at San Jacinto, with José Dolores Estrada and Andrés Castro defeating the invading Yankee, they are what has given the strength to this People and what gives the strength to all of us, so it is very true, that no matter how great Goliath is, there is always a David with a sling to bring him down, as we have brought him down here in our country.
And after Walker came the troops of the United States Army, and at that the Dignity of the Nicaraguan people rose, and there arose, transcending the Universe, the example of General Benjamin Zeledón who faced the invading Yankees, surrounded by the troops of the most powerful army on Earth at that time, there in Coyotepe, in all that area of Coyotepe and La Barranca.
And arriving to parley where General Benjamin Zeledón was resisting, some Yankee Colonels arrived to parley, to tell him to surrender and that they were going to spare his life, that they were not going to shoot him. And how did he answer them? He responded with a letter that he sent to his wife, to his children, where he told them that such and such Yankees had arrived to tell him to surrender.
But he wanted them to understand, the children and the mother of his children, that no matter how painful it might be, he had no alternative but to defend the Nation, and if in the defense of the Nation he was to give up his Life, then that should be recognized as a gesture of Dignity, and that it was an inheritance that he could bequeath not only to the People of Nicaragua but also to his family, the Dignity of someone who does not surrender or sell themselves, and on October 4th his birthday, in 1912, General Zeledón gave up his life.
And there was General Sandino, a boy, he was a boy then, he was not yet a General, and he saw how the Yankees were parading Zeledón’s corpse in a cart, so that people would be afraid and that when they saw a Yankee they would kneel to the Yankee and that they would tremble faced with the Yankee.
Instead, that provoked indignation in our General Sandino, who was a boy, a young person like you all, and he relates, how when he saw that disgrace for Nicaragua, how the Yankees humiliated Nicaragua, how they murdered its heroes, he was filled with Dignity, with the Dignity that General Zeledón was transmitting to him, that he was transferring to him. And that is why our General Sandino is the son of General Zeledón, and that is why General Sandino decided so firmly to continue the battle that Zeledón had started.
Because the country continued to be occupied by the Yankees, and it was Sandino who took up the fight and led the fight, and he did not lead that fight with huge detachments of soldiers, rather he led the fight with a small group of volunteers to whom he said: Well, we are going to face these Yankees who have invaded our nation. And he asked the fighters who had been with him, how many were willing to accompany him in this challenge, and those who were present at that moment were a small group, and they all raised their hands, 29 of them, 30 with him, to take the fight to the Yankee, until they expelled them.
And the Yankee troops did have to withdraw, they could not defeat Sandino, they had to resort to treachery, we already know the whole story, they had to resort to treachery, to murder Sandino and put Somoza in his place, which the Yankee presidents calmly said when they received Somoza there in the United States, because there were people who asked, but how can you receive Somoza if he is a murderer whom you installed?
And they did so for the same reason, since he was a son… yes, they used a word that I prefer not to say… “a son of a bitch“, with apologies to the bitches, yes… they said, he may be ”a son of a bitch“, but he is our ”son of a bitch”. That’s what the Yankees said calmly, the Yankee presidents… he’s our “son of a bitch”. So, what does that make them? Bitches giving birth to dogs, that’s what they are, dogs that give birth to dogs, to go out destroying the World, to go out destroying Humanity, to go out destroying whole Peoples.
And these municipal elections I would say were a lesson in Peace: There were no altercations, there were no stones thrown, there were no lawsuits, there were no bullets, there were no injuries, there were no deaths. What does that mean? That all Nicaraguans, all of them, of different political thinking, of different ideologies, who before with great ease resorted to confrontation when an election was coming, killing, murdering, destroying the ballot boxes.
All Nicaraguans, regardless of their ideology, regardless of their religious thought, in these years that have passed, where they have seen the results, the fruits of Peace, because, who can deny here that schools have been built all over the country, schools have multiplied, health posts have multiplied throughout the country, who can deny it, that hospitals have been built and we continue to build Hospitals?
We are making progress in the construction of hospitals, and soon we will inaugurate the Chinandega Hospital that is practically finished, only the formality of the inauguration remains. Yes, they are already practicing medicine there, because they are providing care for people, testing all the equipment, the capabilities of doctors and specialists, already giving attention to the population.
The hospital in León, the hospital in Ocotal, Nueva Segovia, but we are talking about actual hospitals, of course, we have to combine departmental hospitals, health posts, maternal shelter and also first rate hospitals like the ones we are building. Because in the same way the rich, the capitalists always expect good Hospitals and where a poor person, even if they arrive there dying, they tell them, if you can’t pay then you can’t come in. And the poor die at the gates of the hospitals of the rich,.
Not here, hospitals are being built here with every facility, with all the technology, with all the capabilities of the hospitals that serve the rich. Because the poor have the same and even more right, the People have the same and even more right to quality medical care.
A large hospital is also being built in Bilwi, on Nicaragua’s Caribbean Coast, in Bilwi! Because that is another historical step, the Caribbean Coast from the formal, institutional point of view, was already integrated into the Nicaraguan State, but in reality it had not been integrated, because there were no roads or highways to get to or from the Caribbean Coast. You had to make long detours, embark to travel along the River Rama and go on those boats to Bluefields and from Bluefields by boat to the communities, to Pearl Lagoon, to Sandy Bay, to all those communities that along the Caribbean Coast.
Also in the North, in the Southern Caribbean, in Bluefields, that road has been built, a road of the kind that is built only in rich, developed countries, a road that is much more expensive than a paved road, much more expensive than an asphalt road, because it is a concrete road and the concrete road lasts, resists the rains which in that area are very copious and destroy the paved surfaces, destroy asphalt.
And if we look here in the different places in our country where paved roads are laid, then that street, that road has a short duration, the paving blocks loosen easily, they get displaced easily and if a paving block gets displaced, then several of them also get displaced.
In the case of asphalt, of course, asphalt cannot be lifted, but it is very fragile, with a little rain fissures open and after the fissures a small pothole appears. I remember a trip there to Chontales, then to El Rama, all those areas where it had been possible to lay asphalt, soon there appeared big potholes, because it rains so much there that no asphalt can resist it.
So, in discussion with our Minister of Finance, Compañero Iván Acosta, and also talking to General Oscar Mojica, Minister of Construction and Transport, who is like lightning, building roads and bridges everywhere, I told them: Look, we should not continue here building either with paving blocks, or with asphalt, even if it may be more expensive, because after all it is more expensive to have to be changing paving blocks more often because they get destroyed more quickly, or asphalt too; better concrete instead.
So, we have to adjust the budget and talk to the mayors, which has already been done, so that from now on, really, what is already under way with paving blocks will have to be finished, but from now on, any new street that has to be done, a city block say, whatever the distance, a kilometer, 100 kilometers, they must be done with concrete so that they can endure.
Because the truth is that it’s a false economy, using paving blocks, all of you are witnesses of how paving blocks get loosened with the passage of trucks, they break up and even disappear, because when people see the paving blocks broken up like that, they grab them so as to make some walls there in their houses. Yes, that’s the truth!
Paving blocks are very fragile, while asphalt has that other problem, so we have now assumed that commitment, and well, we have to have a little patience of course, because where before a surface was going to be laid with paving blocks; well, we are going to build now with concrete and not with asphalt, nor with paving blocks. So it has to be explained to the population and they will have to wait a little longer because it is more expensive, and so instead of building 5 kilometers that were going to be laid with paving blocks, we are going to build 2 kilometers with concrete, but a surface that lasts, and then another 2 kilometers with concrete, until the 5 kilometers that have to be laid in that place, or 10 kilometers to another place, or 100 kilometers to another place, are completed.
So this is good news that we give to all the families who are the ones out there who find themselves swallowing dust and getting covered in mud.
And I was telling you, about these public works and how many more public works that we could mention, works that I don’t even need to mention because the People see them and touch them, the People are enjoying those streets, those roads, that construction of the bridge over the River Wawa, that is a historic achievement ! and we are doing so with the confidence, with the certainty that this is a People that deserves all that, and more.
Faced with all that this People has lived through, that they have seen, because in the ’80s as we know very well, it was a war and our economy was a war economy; in the ’90s those who serve the Yankees occupied the Government, financed by the Yankees so that they could have many resources for elections, for organize the voting, to win votes, but then when they came into Government, what do they do? They do what the rich, the capitalists, the big companies, the Yankees are interested in: they start privatizing everything, schools, health care, public sector companies.
Here they privatized companies that earn multi-million dollar revenues, unfortunately those governments handed them over, and of course, they got their kick backs under the table, yes, they took good money under the table so they would sell off those concessions, concessions to do with communications.
Take a good look at the kind of business communications means in these times of cell phones, the Internet, everything we know very well. That is a tremendous business in any country in the world, they are companies that never stop earning, even during the pandemic, they earned much more, because, since people could not get out and about, they still had to communicate.
Here those companies earn multi-million dollar revenues, it is true that they have to pay some tax, but it is not a fair relationship that we have, and we will have to see with them how can discuss that they contribute more. The more they earn, the more they should contribute through taxes so as to enable building more schools, more health posts, more roads, more highways. Yes, they must contribute more!
And so all the companies, the big businesses, when we did the tax reform they cried out to high heaven, and said that the economy was going to collapse, that the economy was going to go under, that big companies, small companies, medium-sized companies were going to disappear, as if they were they worried about Small Companies. Anyway, all of that they said.
The truth is that the People have understood, that when there is Peace and a Government willing to work with the People and for the People, then the fruits multiply. People have been seeing this since 2007, where we have now managed to govern in times of Peace, but what kind of Peace if they continuously make war on us, applying sanctions, aggression.
But even so, we still managed to grow and build, growing and even building extraordinary sports centers like this one, the Alexis Argüello Multi-Sport Center, just like the National Stadium, a first rank stadium. In other words, public works have multiplied, and the People have seen it, the communities see it, and how the Government has been promoting productive activity.
For that reason, when we were in 2018, entering the year 2018 when the attempted coup d’état took place, it was because they realized that the longer the Sandinista Front was in government and doing all the public works that it had been carrying out on behalf of the People, making no political or ideological differentiation when carrying out a given project, then they realized that they could not get back into government, because they had their chance during 17 years in the Government, with all the support of the Yankees and the Europeans. But where are the results?
What happened to all the promises they made? The People realized that they instead had suffered losses with all those neoliberal governments.
Then in 2018 when they started their campaign over the tax reform we carried out, that the economy was going under, that there would be no economic growth, and then when COVID came along, even worse, they said here that the economy is going down… Yes, they said so, that the Nicaraguan economy was going under, that the country was going to be totally bankrupt and everyone was going to be unemployed, and that we had to close the schools and close the hospitals; in other words, a diabolical campaign.
2018 came and went, and we continue. I remember that in the middle of 2018 we still inaugurated public works in different parts of the country and here in Managua. And after 2018 people have become more aware, even those who have other political sympathies, have other political banners, are becoming aware and say: Ah, if we had a Mayor here, how many times did we not have Mayors, they say, a lot of times we had Mayors; in their 17 years of power they had Mayors everywhere, but what did they do?
Instead, they say, these Sandinistas since 2007, despite 2018, have continued to do more projects and more and more public works. That explains why the People are now recognizing the value of peace. A People in Peace and with a Government committed to the interests of the People, is a People that does well and Nicaragua’s families are growing in every way, the country is growing.
We can say that last Sunday’s election is a historic achievement, because for the first time in the history of our country the People cast their vote thinking about the well-being of their families, not thinking about political parties, being convinced that the political party to which they belonged did nothing for them, and that the only way ahead was to continue voting for the Frente Sandinista.
For the first time in history, as I was telling you, on election day there were no assaults, no stone throwing, there were no attacks with clubs, no gunshots, there were no injuries… Not a drop of blood got spilt! But they had made plans, they did make plans, sponsored by the Yankees, by some European governments, whose ambassadors conspire here, meeting with terrorists to encourage them and funding them to promote violence, to promote terror.
Despite that, despite the millions that have been invested in them and that they are being given in Costa Rica, for Costa Rica is a base that they have, even so they did not manage to provoke acts of violence. Why? Because this People is now convinced that a vote is worth more than a drop of blood, worth much more for the progress and well-being of the country… It’s worth more! It’s certainly worth more!
And congratulations on this day to all the thousands and thousands, the many thousands and thousands of Nicaraguans who went to vote, the families who went to vote, to all those who participated in the electoral organization that is very complex, and congratulations above all this Youth, who have always been there alongside the People, next to the People, fighting multiple battles.
You have the Concert soon, and I want to conclude by referring to a meeting currently taking place there in Egypt, they call it the COP. This is COP number I don’t know what exactly, because since 1995 when they started doing these meetings there in Germany, because they were worried about global warming, about poisoning the Planet, about the destruction of the Planet. And they reach agreements, but they don’t fulfill any of them, and then they get back together and they make more agreements, and they don’t fulfill any of those either. Who does not comply? The countries that pollute the Planet the most, the very ones that should comply with what the agreements mandate.
Because countries like ours here in Central America and the Caribbean, which do not have high levels of pollution but are rather the victims of global warming, hence the hurricanes, the droughts, everything that we already know of, which are always hitting this area and that is recognized by the international community, by scientists; among other areas, in Asia, in Africa, it is recognized here in the Americas, that Central America and the Caribbean is an area highly vulnerable to global warming.
Well, yet another meeting, and of course we sent a Delegation, to listen and also at least to be listened to, but in these meetings the same thing happens as happens with the United Nations. It is the same, that is, in case of the United Nations, what is said? That it must defend and respect the Principles of the United Nations founding charter, but that is not fulfilled! And who does not comply? Those who have the power to say, I won’t comply. Who has that power? The imperialists of the Earth, who remain the same as ever.
If we have to point out here the culprits of the destruction of the Planet, of global warming, of the destruction and enslavement of Humanity, it is the countries, the nations that were then already developed, wealthy nations, the one that were killing each other to see who could dominate the World. And I mean Europe. Indeed, the Europeans were killing each other, and that was when there were Kings all over Europe, and they all went to the Pope so that the Pope would crown them. Yes, that’s how it was.
Then they went on to invade Africa, invade Asia, invade these lands, murdering, stealing wealth, destroying, polluting, and yes, enslaving millions of human beings they set out to enslave. Yes, it was a crime against humanity, enslaving human beings, especially from Africa, entire enslaved families were imprisoned, fettered and shackled, fathers, mothers, boys and girls, young people, children… Everyone!
Whole families were enslaved and then transported by the big European companies that managed the slave transport business, shipping them from those areas of Africa, where the slave buyers went, seelcting slaves, paying for them, and so they bought human beings as merchandise. Total brutality! And then shipping them to other places, including the United States where slavery was installed.
So, every year and every day we hear there at the United Nations the protests and demands over the agreements not being fulfilled and so the World will be destroyed and Humanity will disappear.
Yesterday, or the day before, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, spoke at the meeting in Egypt, and look at this man’s variety of wisdom. What did he say? That with what has happened and with the destruction of the Planet, and because what should be done is not really being done, all this is leading us all to suicide.
No, Mr. Guterres, we do not want to commit suicide, none of us want to commit suicide, nor do Africans want to commit suicide, nor do Asians want to commit suicide. What you need to say is, and have the courage to say it, is that what has been happening is a crime committed since colonial times, against Peoples in developing countries, against the African, Asian, Latin American and Caribbean Peoples, they have been destroyed, they have been murdered, they have been exploited, and along with that, those doing so have been destroying the Environment.
Such that they, with their big companies and their big industries have been quietly poisoning the Environment, and that poison falls on us, the poison that they emit. So who are the killers of the environment? It is the wealthy countries, the capitalist countries that are killing the environment. So say it, Mister Secretary of the United Nations, have the courage to say so and not come out with the story that we are all committing suicide.
No one here wants to commit suicide, here what we are faced with is a gang of assassins who control the global economy, who control atomic weapons and who commit crimes every day. They commit crimes even in their own countries, they live killing themselves there, killing children, killing students. It happens every day, hardly a day passes where such news is not there in the United States. Since there is a free market with weapons there, a child can go out with a gun and set about killing, or an adult, the same, anyone; they kill as they please, there is no security there.
On the other hand, they speak out against drug trafficking and organized crime. But why is there drug trafficking and organized crime? This is the same case as with global warming, why? Because it turns out that the inhabitants of those rich countries love marijuana, they love cocaine, drugs, they love it, they go crazy for it. They are the biggest consumers and they pay very well, and those who produce drugs in these parts are quite simply not the ones who consume it.
The key to ending drug trafficking, organized Crime, money laundering, and the largest amounts of money are laundered in US banks, from drug traffickers. Who has the key to end it? The United States has it. Who else has the key? The Europeans have it.
Why don’t they exercise control? Why don’t they apply control? Because, like it or not, while there is a lot of talk about narco-States here in Latin America, in fact the narco-States are the Developed Countries, and that is why they never put an end to the consumption of drugs, nor truly try to control it. On the contrary, it has become a huge business where police officials, intelligence officials, officials of the US Congress are engaged in this kind of criminal activity.
The truth is that we have to continue striving against these conditions; that is, we cannot give up in the face of that Goliath who continues to destroy and commit barbarities even against their own People.
And at the United Nations, one sometimes asks, really what are we doing at the United Nations? But after all, we have to continue in the United Nations, so that at least we can be heard and to demonstrate and make clear that there is no democracy at the United Nations, there is one power imposing itself, which is the power of the powerful capitalist countries, that is what gets imposed.
Precisely in the last few days, a vote was held at the United Nations on the issue of the blockade of Cuba. Yet one more vote. Year after year, the United Nations votes to see who is in favor of the blockade of Cuba and who is against the blockade in Cuba. And there are already around 190 Countries, 188 Countries, that is, the overwhelming majority; while there are just two, three or four countries that vote to maintain the blockade of Cuba, the first, of course, being the United States.
The rest of the countries of the world, even those that are pro-American, despite the fact that the Yankees pressure them to vote in favor of the blockade, do not dare. Because they realize that they become accomplices of a crime against humanity that has been committed every day for 60 years against a People, the People of Cuba, the People of Fidel, Martí, Raúl, Miguel Díaz-Canel, that Heroic People who have resisted and are resisting a blockade for more than 60 years.
It is the People who suffer with these blockades, and what does the Secretary-General say in the face of a vote like that? Mr. Guterres, you should declarein favor of that if in the United Nations General Assembly, where the representatives of all the world’s countries are, and they vote for the blockade of Cuba to be lifted, and there are 180 votes against 4 votes, then what more do you need to have the courage to insist that what the Peoples mandate should be fulfilled?
Let the vote of the Nations, of the Peoples, be fulfilled if we want to have some respect for the United Nations; otherwise, I tell you, beloved brothers and sisters, we should not get our hopes up about the United Nations, it is a disaster, which has served for nothing except to allow the commission of horrendous crimes, and always in developing countries.
Our Solidarity on this day with the People of Cuba, with Cuba’s families and with the Cuba’s Youth who have been a brave, heroic, combative Youth.
And for you, beloved young men, beloved young women, who have held this Congress, one more Congress for you all, a Congress not just for talk, not just to be talking in a vacuum, but a Congress of deeds, of action, working alongside the People and next to the People. That is the Sandinista Youth!
