Nicaragua acoge demanda de Sudáfrica en contra de Israel ante la Corte Internacional de Justicia
El Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional de Nicaragua acoge con satisfacción la demanda de Sudáfrica ante la Corte Internacional de Justicia (CIJ) presentada el 29 de Diciembre de 2023 en contra de Israel por las violaciones de éste de sus obligaciones en virtud de la Convención para la Prevención y la Sanción del Delito de Genocidio de 1948 en relación con los palestinos en la Franja de Gaza.
La demanda de Sudáfrica también incluye una solicitud para que la Corte indique medidas provisionales que ordenen a Israel detener su campaña militar en Gaza para proteger contra daños mayores a los Derechos del Pueblo Palestino bajo la Convención sobre Genocidio, y para garantizar el cumplimiento por parte de Israel de sus obligaciones en virtud de la Convención.
Nicaragua considera que la acción legal contra Israel ante la CIJ es un paso concreto en cumplimiento con las obligaciones legales que cada estado parte de la Convención sobre el Genocidio tiene el Derecho y el deber de tomar, y es además el primer paso para la rendición de cuentas a la comunidad internacional. Como Estado Parte en la Convención sobre el Genocidio, Nicaragua urge a Israel a cumplir sus obligaciones en virtud del Derecho Internacional y a poner fin de inmediato a su asalto militar contra el Pueblo Palestino.
Nicaragua también hace un llamado para el fin de la ocupación, el establecimiento de condiciones para una solución duradera y permanente que respete las fronteras de 1967 con un estado Palestino soberano e independiente.
El Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional reafirma su firme compromiso con el Estado de Derecho a Nivel Internacional y la solución pacífica de las controversias entre los Estados.

The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of Nicaragua welcomes South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), filed on 29th December, 2023, for violating its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide of 1948 in relation to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
South Africa’s application also includes a request to the Court to provide provisional measures, by commanding Israel to stop its military campaign in Gaza in order to protect the Rights of the Palestinian People against further harm and under the Genocide Convention, and to ensure Israel’s compliance with its obligations under the Convention.
Nicaragua considers that the legal action against Israel at the ICJ is a concrete step in compliance with the legal obligations that each state party to the Genocide Convention has the right and duty to take, and is also the first step towards accountability before the international community. As a State Party to the Genocide Convention, Nicaragua urges Israel to fulfill its obligations under International Law and to immediately cease its military assault against the Palestinian People.
Nicaragua also calls for an end to the occupation and for the establishment of conditions for a lasting and permanent solution that respects the 1967 borders with a sovereign and independent Palestinian state.
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity reaffirms its firm commitment to the Rule of Law at the International Level and the peaceful solution of disputes between States.
